The NIU wrestling team ended their season in late march with an eight and ten overall record. They even sent two wrestlers Brit Wilson and Bryce West to the NCAA Championships, but what most don’t know is that Bryce, isn’t the only West the wrestles here at NIU. He has an identical twin Drew, who Bryce credits for his rise to success.

“He really helped with also having someone to push you and always being competitive. We always wanted to win so we push each other to get better everyday” Bryce said.

Consistent Success

Bryce and Drew have been wrestling together for years. These two dominated in high school, the twins combined for more than 400 wins while in high school, and either won the state title, or finished runner up in every year they competed. This kind of success started well before these two took the matt at Solon high.

“Having my brother to practice with whenever I want is huge. His support, and my families support helped tremendously during this journey” Drew said.

Future Outlook

This pair of twins are extremely impressive on the matt, and they are just getting started. Both Bryce and Drew just finished their redshirt freshman season. Bryce and Drew both won the same amount of matches as they lost this year, but they are both primed for historic Northern Illinois wrestling careers.
